Transparency at DCMS
The Government’s vision for democratic accountability through the publication of data held by Central and Local Government Departments will enable the public to hold politicians and public bodies to account.
DCMS is committed to providing the public with information on the performance and productivity of the Department and the impact of our policies on society.
This transparency section of our website is the DCMS’s repository for its data, and includes:
- data on the Department’s and our Arms Length Bodies’ (ALBs) administrative spend and operational data
- data on the resource that is invested into programmes, policy and procurement
- information on the delivery and outcomes of major programmes and the impact of our policies on society

DCMS operational data
The financial data will be released on a monthly basis, whilst the rest will be reviewed and published as appropriate (at least annually).
- All items of expenditure over £500
- Staff Organogram
- Salary details for senior staff
- Details of Ministers, Special Advisers and SCS – Expenses claims, gifts and hospitality
- Details of Ministers, Special Advisers and SCS – Meetings with outside interest groups
- Energy consumption of Departmental HQ
- All new tender documents for contracts over £10k
- All new contracts, including details of all new ICT contracts
Other data releases
Delivery and outcomes of major programmes and impact of our policies
The Department will publish a range of data sets to provide a picture of performance and impact of policies. This will be made available to the public by 1st April 2011. This will be reviewed regularly and the Department will be working with our Arms Length Bodies and other partners to identify further useful data sources, with a particular focus on exploring how data can be disaggregated to the local level.
FOI responses
DCMS currently produces a regular disclosure log of all our FOI requests. Responses on those issues which are of particular interest to the wider public are also made available under FoI releases of specific interest.
